Ingredients:

  • 500g beef or lamb (cut into chunks)
  • 2 onions (chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 cup prunes (soaked in warm water)
  • ½ cup almonds (blanched and toasted)
  • 1 cup water or beef broth
  • ½ tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or tagine. Add onions and garlic, and sauté until soft.
  2. Add the meat and cook until browned on all sides.
  3. Stir in the spices and mix well. Add water or broth, cover, and simmer for 1–1.5 hours.
  4. Add prunes and honey, then cook for another 10–15 minutes.
  5. Garnish with almonds and sesame seeds before serving with Moroccan bread.
